HIGHLIGHTS

  • Day 1: Touch down in Tanzania
  • Passengers will be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and road transfer to Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania. Dinner and Overnight Stay at Arusha Serena Hotel or similar.
  • Day 2: Wild about wildebeest in Tarangire National Park
  • Ride in specially designed, open-top safari vehicles to Tarangire National Park, which boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. You will see large herds of elephants, different types of antelopes, bird life and huge baobab trees. Relax at your safari lodge before the late afternoon game drive, and swap sightings at the welcome reception and dinner.

  • Day 3: Tarangire game drives
  • Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in Tarangire National Park. It’s one of the best parks for elephant watching, and is home to hundreds of bird and game species. The elephants here count about 300. During dry season, migratory wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, impalas, gazelles, giraffes, hartebeests and elands crowd the shrinking lagoons. Huge baobab trees make Tarangire special and those acacia trees inhabit the tree climbing pythons and the nesting birds of life numbering about 550 species.

  • Day 4: Flamingos at Lake Manyara National Park
  • Look for gazelles, waterbucks, impalas, and leopards on a morning game drive. Then travel to Lake Manyara National Park, famed for flamingos and birds of prey. Keep a sharp eye for tree-climbing lions lazing among the limbs of acacia trees on an afternoon game drive. Lake Manyara National Park is known for its flamingos. During the wet season they inhabit the edges of the lake in flocks of thousands but they are not so present during the dry season. More than 400 species of birds inhabit the park and many remain throughout the year. Because of this Lake Manyara National Park is the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. Visitors to the park can expect to see upwards of 100 different species of bird on any day. Leopards, tree climbing lions, elephants, blue monkeys, dikdiks, gazelles, hippos, giraffes, impalas and more inhabit the park and many can be seen throughout the year.

  • Day 5: Wildlife in Ngorongoro Crater
  • After Breakfast depart for Crater, Head to the heart of Ngorongoro Crater, one of the largest calderas in the world, which contains a variety of ecosystems and an astounding concentration of birds and animals. Encounter massive herds of zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle. This area affords an opportunity to spot the Big Five, which includes African elephant, leopard, the black manned lion, buffalo, and the rare black rhinoceros. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater.

  • Day 6: Masai village & Olduvai Gorge discoveries
  • Visit a local Masai village before stopping at Olduvai Gorge, where archaeologists Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the fossilized remains of the earliest known man, an estimated 1.8 million years old. Continue wildlife viewing while driving on the adventurous roads across the plains of Serengeti to your safari lodge which was inspired by Masai tribal dwellings.

  • Day 7: Full Day over the Serengeti
  • Observe wildlife in the first light of day, an African safari thrill. An afternoon game drive on the Serengeti plains may yield sightings of African elephant, leopard, the black manned lion, buffalo, and the rare black rhinoceros. Also wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, cheetahs, hippos, jackals, gazelles and many many wild animals. This is one of the best places on the continent to see prides of lions (Optional Balloon Ride today).

  • Lodging: Acacia Serengeti or similar,
  • Day 8: Journey home
  • Fly to Arusha where a day room is reserved for you. Evening transferring to the Kilimanjaro airport. Approximately 1hr drive. Tour ends at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, Tanzania.
